Tobias Johannes Ferdinand Husemann
• 1970 Born in Stuttgart
• 1977 – 1986 Attended the Waldorf School in Stuttgart
• 1982 Established his first Puppet Theatre
• 1985 – 1987 First public performance in the Community Centre in Ruit
• 1987 – 1990 Apprenticeship in Carpentry
• 1990 – 1991 Civil Service
• 1991 – 1993 Studied at the “Kunstakademie” in Stuttgart
• 1993 – 1995 Interio Designs – Freies Möbeldesign
After completing his studies in 1993, Tobias Husemann founded “Interio Designs” and produced pieces in wood and metal for: Kurt Weidemann, Heidemarie von Wedel, Thomas D., Zadu Bar, Libero, Forum 3, THC, Vegi Voodoo King, Verleihnix Comics, Boots by Boots, Todschick, Brett, Firma Bonn, Herbertz, 551.
• 1996 – 2002 Residency in Jerusalem
Puppet-maker and Puppeteer at the “Teatron Hakron” for several productions including “Elvis' new clothes”. Street Theatre with Giant Puppets for the International Puppet Theatre Festival in Jerusalem.
• 2002 – 2004 Residency in Bremen
Staging for the City of Bremen's event “Free Night of Masks” and construction and performances with the Giant Mask “Roland of Bremen”.
• 2004 – 2005 Residency in Berlin. Exhibition at Potsdamer Platz.
• 2005 – Moved to an Atelier in the Wagenhallen Culture Company in Stuttgart
Design and construction of his Giant Puppet Dundu and performances at many shows and events (see References). In 2009 Tobias Husemann built 2 additional Dundus for the Welcome Night of the IAAF Light Athletic World Championships at the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin. The performance of the 3 Dundus at this opening ceremony was brilliantly successful and was presented with the European Best Event Award for 2009.
Tobias Husemann has been building large scale masks and models for “Campact-Democracy in Action” since 2007. Some examples of his work can be seen under Masks. Tobias Husemann's “Coalosaurus”, a 5 meter dinosaur in the form of a coal fueled power station was especially successful and is still featured on City-Tour throughout Germany for the “Climate Alliance” a coalition of over 100 organizations working for changes in “climate politics”, the online network “Campact-Democracy in Action” and the German Environmental Aid.
